Buy Herdshares
What is a herdshare?
When you join Pine Hills Pastures, you become a part-owner of our dairy goat herd—this is what’s known as a herdshare.
As a member, you receive a weekly supply of fresh goat milk, just like a milk subscription from your very own goats!
(But don’t worry—you don’t have to wake up at 5 AM to milk them. We’ve got that covered! We do all the work so you don’t have to)
Why Herdshares Exist
Raw milk laws vary by state. In Colorado, retail sale of raw milk isn’t permitted — but herd ownership is.
The herdshare model allows families to:
Access fresh, raw goat milk
Know exactly how the animals are raised
Build a direct relationship with their farmer
Support small-scale, transparent agriculture
It keeps food personal and local.

How Our Herdshare Works
When you join Pine Hills Pastures, you become a part-owner of our dairy goat herd. This allows you to receive fresh raw milk weekly, just like a milk subscription from your own goats!
✔︎ Each full share entitles you to one gallon of milk per week
✔︎ Each half share entitles you to a half gallon of milk per week
✔︎ Pick up your milk weekly from our farm on your designated day
You can purchase multiple shares based on your family's needs. Your buy-in fee is refundable if you choose to cancel.
Milk will be available for pickup every week, from May to November to the best of our ability.
Here’s How It Works:
-
When you sign the herdshare ownership agreement, you become part owner of our dairy goat herd.
Because your goats live on our farm, we provide:
Daily feeding
Pasture rotation
Milking
Clean handling
Proper storage
Your monthly boarding fee covers the cost of care and milk processing.
The herd share agreement can be canceled at any time by either party.
We understand things can change for everyone overnight, so for your convenience there are no long term commitments.
You can back out at anytime with a simple 30 day notice and only need to maintain your boarding commitments up to that point.
-
Herdshare members pay:
A one-time buy-in fee, per share, to purchase their share(s) of the herd, and
A one-time jar fee per share, and
A monthly boarding fee per share, which covers feed, milking, processing and herd management.
A full share entitles you to 1 gallon per week.
A half share entitles you to half gallon per week.
You can purchase multiple shares based on your family's needs.
Shares are limited based on herd size to ensure quality and sustainability.
-
Pickup days are Sunday through Friday 8am to 8pm.
During sign-up, you will choose your preferred pickup day.
Your pickup day will remain the same each week.
Your fresh, chilled milk will be waiting for you in our Milk Pick-Up Room refrigerator on your designated pickup day.
-
You’ll pick up your milk on your designated day each week at:
📍35553 County Road 3, Elizabeth, CO 80107
We’ll provide:
Clean, chilled raw goat milk in glass jars
Pickup instructions
Ongoing communication via email
You’ll bring:
Your empty, clean jars and lids from the previous week
A cooler with ice packs to keep milk fresh during transport
A towel or dividers to prevent jars from clanking in your cooler
First week?
We provide your initial jars, but you’ll need to bring them back weekly for exchange.
There is a one-time jar purchase of $10 per share ($5 per jar).
If jars are not returned, you will be charged another one-time jar purchase fee.
If returned jars are not clean, there will be a cleaning fee of $10 per jar applied to your next invoice.
